What the hell is wrong with the Pittsburgh Steelers????

I just watched a major debacle on NFL Network.  The 1-11 (now 2-11) Cleveland Browns defeated the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers.  The Browns played their guts out and sacked Ben Roethlisberger  at least 8  times. Defensive coordinator for the Browns, Rob Ryan, had the perfect coverage for the Steelers offense.  The Steelers were so casual with their tackling and their overall outlook on the game. that they bit themselves in the ass.  There's ZERO reason why the Steelers should have lost that game but I guess any given Thursday... The Steelers have to win all of their remaining games for a shot at the wildcard and the playoffs. The Ravens, Jaguars, Dolphins, and even the Titans have a shot at making the playoffs before the Steelers. Oh how the mighty have fallen....

Tiger Woods, you deserve a "C'mon MAN!"

Good evening people!

It's been a while since I've gotten on here and ranted about something sports possibly due to my food induced coma which was Thanksgiving.  While sunning in East Texas, I found out that Tiger Woods ran into (no pun intended) to a little trouble backing out of his driveway.

The world's top golfer apparently ran into a tree and fire hydrant at 0225 am at about 30mph. He was so incapacitated that his lovely but slight wife bashed out the back windows of his Escalade to rescue him. Now the damage on the photos shows to the right front of the vehicle.  Now why was she breaking out the back windows of a vehicle whose airbags didn't deploy? Now I know GM (Government Motors) has had problems with financing and such but they've typically built a pretty solid truck from which the Escalade is built on.

Mrs. Woods stated she ran down to the car then she turned around and said she took a golf cart to the crash site. No one saw her with the golf club.  Then there's the whole I'm going to talk to the cops, no I'm not going to talk to the cops that further muddles the story. Had this been a simple accident, why wouldn't he just tell them that and move on with life?  His apology is suspect to say the least.  Oh and the whole NYC club hostess affair is equally sketchy although he and her have denied it. Why did Ms. Electric Cowboy hire a high-profile attorney and PR person if nothing ever happened.

Here's my thought: Big Tig and Ellin got into an argument about the rumors of his infidelity with Ms. Electric Cowboy. Ellin bowed up, grabbed a golf and smashed his damn back windows out. She probably keyed it to just to add to the drama. He went outside and said, "hey, why you wrecking my whip" and tried to stop her. She laid hands on him and beat him down like a pinata and he jumped in his truck to avoid more pain. As he rolled away from the house, she jumped on the golf cart and followed him and he was so distracted looking in the rearview mirror that he ran off the road and hit the hydrant/tree.  He's saying it's all his fault because it probably IS, because his down-low activities and because men are generally shady.  I saw today that he was cited for careless driving and fined about $150 but the damage is done. The once crown prince of all sports who could do no wrong has a little chink in his armor.  Soon everyone will forget all of this and he'll amaze us with more tour championships and corny commercials peddling everything from an overhyped sports drink to your grandmother's old faithful churchmobile.

Racing Four the Win!

Jimmie Johnson will make history at the season finale Homestead-Miami race on Sunday. As long as he finishes 27th, Johnson will become the first driver to win four consecutive championships. Congrats, Jimmie. Nobody works harder than you...and Chad Knaus.

Runner-up for Tool of the Year is...

Juan Pablo Montoya.

I think these "men" forget they're just that - men when they get behind the wheel at a track. Leave well enough alone, JP. I crown thee runner-up of Tool of the Year - behind the #1 supremo douchebag, Denny.

I did like you, Juan Pablo. However, that ridiculous tap to the back of the #14 changed my perspective on you. Like Joey Logano said, "You can't fix stupid."

Further Proof Denny Hamlin is a Douchebag...

Ok, so I'm watching the Homestead Miami Nationwide race (and I never watch Nationwide races) and the first thing I see is Denny "the Douchebag" Hamlin running up on the high side behind Brad Keselowski and tapping him hard enough to spin him out. Really, Denny...did you think you weren't going to get penalized for that immature maneuver? I'd like to personally give a shout out to the Nascar officials at the race for black flagging the #11. I think this further solidifies Denny's win for the "Tool of the Year" award in Nascar (both Nationwide and Sprint). Congrats, Denny. You have rightfully earned this award. Now, go play in traffic.

Ravens blank the Browns on MNF

photos.jpg

Well, at least the Ravens won...  This game quite possibly was the most boring Monday Night Football game in a while even for the most dedicated NFL freak. I found myself checking Facebook as well as what new gadget was nearing release on all my favorite gadget blogs.

Brady Quinn, isn't very good at all. I don't know if he's thinking too much and afraid to make a mistake or if he has too many muscles.  He makes great supplement commercials but not much else. Seriously, look at that guy and compare him to other quarterbacks in the league. He has some seriously sculpted arms. The great quarterbacks in the league, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and others, don't carry around well sculpted pipes in their arsenal and they don't need them to throw the ball accurately down the field. The few times late in the game when he finally decided to throw more than checkdown passes, the ball landed 5-10 yards out of bounds leaving the receiver NO CHANCE to catch it. Any quarterback worth his salt and drafted in the first round needs the ability to threaten the defense with an accurate 9 route.  I can't place all the blame on Quinn because that offensive line played like a disorganized pile of poo. Granted they were playing the highly respected and equally talented Ravens defense which seem to have lost a step or miss big Rex.  The Ravens were able to get a pass rush with rushing only three guys and gave up a sack to Trevor Pryce. How in the hell does 3 guys beat five??

Raven fans, listen up. Don't take this win as some great victory. Granted a win is a win and as Herm Edwards once said, "you play to win the game, hello!!!" Cleveland's defense played well and made Joe Cool, Joe Flacco, look decided average.  Ray Rice had a nice game and even McGahee showed up a bit but the win by the Ravens was ugly.  I'm hoping they'll fix whatever is wrong because they still have to play Big Ben and the Steelers twice this season. Getting swept by the Bengals AND Steelers would be disastrous to say the least.

Even a NFL Owner can act like Larry Johnson

story.jpg

Here's Bud Adams.  Looks like a nice enough guy. Probably plays bridge at some swanky golf course. Has enough money to own a golf course and probably has one at his house. Mr. Adams acted just like Mike Vick did a few years ago when he played for Atlanta and gave the Buffalo Bills a departing gesture. While sitting in the club suites, Bud Adams, owner of the Tennessee Titans tells the Buffalo Bills who's "number one".  Apparently Mr. Adams was so excited that his team decided to win a game this year that he just couldn't help himself.  According to ESPN's report, he had flashed the Hook 'Em Horns just before seemingly in a tribute to their much maligned, high priced, quarterback, Vince Young. Bud Adams received notice from 280 Park Avenue, NY, NY(NFL headquarters) that he would  be fined $250K for his hand signs.  Yes, he shouldn't have done it, but I think it's pretty hilarious that one of the founding fathers of the NFL gets bitch slapped for showing some enthusiasm for his team.

What's been up with Tony?

If you are a Tony fan (like me), you have to be wondering what has been going on with Tony Stewart this season. Part of his appeal is his cocky, arrogant attitude. Tony lays it all out there. He sometimes shares too much.

I was all for him leaving Joe Gibbs Racing and branching out on his own. I have watched in awe as he finagled his way through this season with such success (and in the chase). What is somewhat disturbing to me is his calm demeanor.

I just have to ask. Is Tony Stewart on Paxil or some other mood-altering drug?

Denny Hamlin Needs Some Cheese for His Whine

Oh, where to begin.
Once again, Denny Hamlin is complaining. I'm beginning to wonder if he and Kyle Busch are competing for the biggest crybaby of Nascar. This week, Denny's complaint is that there needs to be an advisory board in Nascar. He wants there to be a collective voice. Hamlin is always whining that people aren't playing fair. Has he looked in the mirror lately? It's like the pot calling the kettle black. There are certain drivers who talk to Nascar about concerns and issues. Nascar listens to these drivers because these drivers have credibility and respect. Jeff Gordon openly admitted that he has talked with Nascar officials. This irks Denny because he is NOT one of those drivers. He doesn't think Nascar should do things based on what seasoned drivers, such as Jeff Gordon, say or think. I imagine Nascar trusts someone like Jeff Gordon because he is a four-time Sprint Cup champion. Nascar trusts what Jimmie Johnson says because he's on his way to his fourth consecutive Sprint Cup championship. Mark Martin is trusted because he is the best driver to have never won a championship. (Enter sarcasm) I can't imagine why they turn the other way when you give your input, Denny.
Denny Hamlin lacks the credibility because he whines day in and day out. He's quick to blame others for things that were clearly his fault (hello, look at the replays). He lacks respect. Denny, you have to have respect to get respect. If you want it, you have to earn it. The racetrack is not your playground. There are rules.
There is also an NNS rivalry brewing between Hamlin and Brad Keselowski. Both drivers need a reality check. You can't fix stupid (ask Robby Gordon). Maybe Mark Martin should have a stern talking-to with these two babies.
Perhaps Denny just needs to realize he is NOT in the same league as Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin. Basically Denny, you need to sit down, shut up, and hold on.

The Sheriff arrests the Cheatriots and Tom Terrific

The Sheriff takes out the garbage in town! Peyton Manning handles the Patriots with a comeback win. Down 31-14 with 12 min to go, the Colts muster a stop on defense and hand the ball back to Peyton and his deputies to win the game on a touchdown with :13 left to play. Excellent game!

Dal-less didn't do so well in Lambeau

Well the game is over and I've had time to reflect on how the Packers dismantled the Cowboys in Lambeau today. I give the Pack all the credit in the world especially their defense for putting the clamps on an offense that was averaging 400+ yards/game at kickoff.  The pressure was intense and relentless which led to a couple of fumbles, one by someone you'll learn very quickly that I have a love/hate relationship with. He goes by many names but my favorite is "Double Agent." For someone that generally has some pocket presence, Tony Romo got creamed and gave up the ball.  Now I'll be the first one to say the Cowboys offensive line is not very good.  Sure they're "big mammoths" as Michael Irvin so eloquently stated on Gameday Final on NFL Network a little bit ago, but they ought to be able to block consistently without 1)holding and 2)false starts. Every game Romo is running for his life when the Cowboys play anyone with a semblance of a pass rush. Offensively, we were just BAD. Dropped balls when the ball is thrown right to you (yeah I'm talking about you Roy Eugene Williams Jr.) is not a way to win games. Offensive coordinator, Jason Garrett, listen up: yes you can establish the run game with 3 capable backs instead of throwing the ball all over the yard.

The defense was solid for the most part until they spent the majority of the game on the field while the offense was playing the three and out game.  Once I saw the hands on the hips in the third quarter, I knew the Packers were going to gash the Cowboys in the run game with Ryan Grant. Mike Jenkins played well till he hurt his shoulder making one of those cornerback tackles. D. Ware made his normal amount of plays and I saw Spencer get in the backfield although it didn't net him a sack (close doesn't count).

Next game is against the Redskins at Jerry's House. The Redskins will be coming off a desperation win against the Broncos in Fedex Field today. Whoever was calling the plays in Washington today, did a good job. Feel free to post your thoughts and opinions on the debacle in Lambeau or any other game/sport you want.

Welcome to the One Smart Chick and one Cool Cat Pro Sportsblog!

Welcome to our new little sports blog! This is our first attempt at creating a sports blog on all the major sports that we care about, specifically NFL, NASCAR, NBA, NCAA among others. I'm not sure how often this will be updated till I get it all figured out but at least in the beginning I plan on posting at least something every Sunday evening. Feel free to comment but make them clean and no bashing other users. If you do, I'll tell the principal!  Enjoy!

Damp-less Mavs win in Detroit

The Dallas Mavericks pulled off a win in Detroit without Erick Dampier. He practiced and warmed up with the team, but was scratched from the starting lineup. He was taken to a nearby hospital after complaining of not feeling well. Get well soon, Damp!
